We, Angel's Animal Rescue, speak and act for, our furry friends, those we have rescued, are actively rehabilitating and preparing to be re-homed as well as, those that are desperate, not yet save, waiting to be found.
Angel's Animal Rescue Society
Our story: A dog named "Angel" and three of his human friends were in a terrible car accident. It took the lives of two that day. Angel, with his head resting upon the chest of one of the victims, while she passed away. His human was seat belted into the passenger seat, unresponsive, but still alive. Three humans that day were transported by BC Ambulance, only one to survive. Angel was transported to a veterinary hospital, where we, just two random people, offered to fundraise to help Angel recover.
Never having fundraised before, we set up outside our local grocery store. It was there, that just a handful of people, were able to raise enough funds to save Angel's life. During the fundraising process, people that donated to help save Angel, were sharing their stories about others that needed help. Animals in desperate situations: Abandonment, abuse, severe neglect, was brought to our attention. We could not turn our backs. The SPCA spread thin, with only two investigators at that time to cover the region of Blue River all the way to hope, many animals fall between the cracks, and suffering all the while.
Three weeks after bringing Angel to the vet, we received a call from the hospital and his person, Dee. In a weak voice, she said "you have my dog, Angel". We assured her he was being taken care of and not to worry. Dee needed her arm amputated; Angel needed his leg amputated. Weeks later, they were reunited. This should have been a happy store and it was, mostly. We brought Angel to his people, and as we watched this beautiful and affectionate, now, three-legged dog, returned to his very heavy and short chain attached to a doghouse much too small for him to even get into; our hearts broke, and Angel's Animal Rescue Society was born.
